Ahmad Ibrahim Hasanat

Grand Mufti of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

We have witnessed remarkable progress in this country in the fields of science and religious education. This is no coincidence, as this land has made an outstanding contribution to the development of Arab and Islamic civilization, as well as to the history of Islam.

This is the homeland of Imam Bukhari, Imam Termizi, Imam Maturidi, Imam Nasafi, Imam Taftazani, and many other great scholars who rendered unparalleled services to the Muslim Ummah in the religious, spiritual, and scholarly spheres. It is also the birthplace of Ibn Sina, Muhammad Khwarizmi, and many other eminent scientists who made extraordinary contributions to the advancement of medicine, mathematics, algebra, philosophy, and other exact sciences.

Today, in Jordan, we regard Uzbekistan as a brotherly and close nation. It is a great pleasure for us to meet Muslim scholars from different parts of the world within the framework of this forum. During our visit, God willing, we will sign a cooperation agreement between the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan and the General Iftaa Department of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. This cooperation will cover the field of issuing fatwas, as well as promoting moderate Islam that is free from extremism, fanaticism, intolerance, and every form of deviation that contradicts the true essence of Islam.

In recent years, Uzbekistan has been implementing numerous reforms. One of the most prominent examples is the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan, established at the initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The Center presents the history of civilization in the territory of Uzbekistan, beginning with the Stone Age and covering the pre-Islamic and Islamic periods, as well as the history of the Khwarazmshahs, the Seljuks, and many other states.

Today, we see here a strong commitment to Islam, knowledge, and enlightenment. This is of great significance not only for the people of Uzbekistan but also for other Muslim nations across Central and East Asia. Relations between the leaders of our two brotherly peoples and friendly states continue to grow stronger, more productive, and steadily. Regular exchanges and official visits are taking place between the two countries in the political, cultural, and religious spheres.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to you. May Allah bless you, accept your good deeds, grant forgiveness to you and your parents, and protect your country, your people, your peace, your children, and your families under His care.
