“Come and see”: A German official who has visited museums around the world invited everyone to travel to Uzbekistan
The Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan, the result of nearly nine years of tremendous effort, has today become an important scientific and educational institution attracting not only national but also global attention. Opened on the eve of Ramadan Eid, this magnificent Center has quickly gained wide coverage in international media and has been highly praised by the global community. The number of distinguished guests visiting the Center, which continues to receive high international recognition, is increasing day by day.
In particular, a delegation led by Günter Krichbaum, Minister of State for Europe at the Federal Foreign Office of Germany, thoroughly familiarized itself with the Center’s exhibitions, paying special attention to the museum’s scientific concept and modern approaches.
During the visit, the high-ranking guest first observed with great interest the images of great scholars displayed in the “Gallery of Great Figures.” The fact that these works were created by artist Alisher Aliqulov using fine mosaic techniques and executed with exceptional artistic mastery left a deep impression on the guest. As he noted, such works of art not only present history but also allow it to be felt.
In the pre-Islamic period exhibitions, the consistent and logical presentation of historical processes, particularly the dynamic demonstration of metalworking processes using artificial intelligence, was highly appreciated by the German officials. This approach was recognized as a vivid example of integrating history with modern technologies.
In the First Renaissance section, the reconstruction and presentation of the globe of Abu Rayhan Beruni — one of the greatest thinkers who made unparalleled contributions to world science in his time and who recorded the coordinates of nearly 600 cities in his works — based on a unique concept, as well as the models of the mausoleums of Imam Bukhari and Imam Maturidi and their invaluable contributions to the development of Islamic scholarship, left a strong impression on the guest.
In the Second Renaissance exhibition, particular attention was given to the design of the large Qur’an manuscript copied by Umar Aqto at the instruction of Amir Temur, its historical significance, and the deep respect shown toward it. The information that Bibikhanum’s attire weighed 22 kilograms and was carried by 15 attendants at once also greatly astonished the German official.
Gunter Krichbaum, Minister of State for Europe at the Federal Foreign Office of Germany:
First of all, I would like to congratulate you on the establishment of the Islamic Civilization Center. This is undoubtedly a very correct and important initiative. Here, the past and the future are interconnected, and visitors are given the opportunity to understand history in harmony with the present.
At this point, I would also like to express my special gratitude to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. It is precisely thanks to his initiative and determination that such a large and significant project has been realized.
We became acquainted with many great scholars and their heritage. Sometimes we think we know a lot, but when compared to the achievements of scholars of the past, we realize just how great their accomplishments truly were.
I have visited many museums around the world, but rarely have I been this impressed. Therefore, I would recommend not only those living in Uzbekistan, but all tourists as well, to visit this place. This Center alone is worth traveling to Uzbekistan for. In short, I would say: come and see.
According to the guest, although all the exhibitions of the Center are unique and interesting, the architectural design and spiritual atmosphere of the Qur’an Hall stand out in particular. The inscriptions of surahs and verses on eight silk carpets reaching a height of five meters, as well as the specially designed central space created for the sacred Uthman Mushaf, left a profound impression on him.
At the conclusion of the visit, the German official emphasized that such institutions play an invaluable role in strengthening mutual understanding, cultural dialogue, and the ideas of peace among peoples.
