Director-General of the International Research Centre for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA)
Although 57 countries are members of our organization, Uzbekistan has its own distinct place. This is because Uzbekistan is the land where some of the greatest scholars of the Islamic world were born. It is a land of unparalleled discoveries, cultural monuments, rich history, and great civilizations. The Islamic Civilization Center has truly been established as a perfect structure. This is a major cultural achievement not only for Uzbekistan or the Muslim world, but for all of humanity.
At the Center, examples of traditional craftsmanship such as ornamentation, wood carving, miniature art, and calligraphy are presented at a very high level. Here, the continuity of traditions preserved over centuries can be clearly seen. Islamic civilization is a civilization that produced great scholars in fields such as science, philosophy, mathematics, astronomy, and Sufism. This Center plays an important role in gathering this rich heritage and passing it on to future generations.
At the same time, unfortunately, today the harmony of science, art, and philosophy has not been sufficiently preserved in some parts of the Islamic world. In the past, Islamic civilization produced great scholars such as Ibn Sina, Beruni, Maturidi, Imam Bukhari, and Ali Qushchi. All of them are an inseparable part of a unified civilizational heritage. Today, it is very important to properly understand this heritage again and convey it to the younger generation.
