From the international forum to practical cooperation: Training seminar organized for museum guides at the Islamic Civilization Center

The Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan hosted an international training seminar dedicated to enhancing the professional skills of its museum guides. The event featured Tatiana Emelianenko, a specialist from the Russian Ethnographic Museum in St. Petersburg, and Irina Osmanova, Curator of the Islam Collection at the State Museum of the History of Religion of Russia, both of whom visited Uzbekistan to participate in the First International Islamic Civilization Forum, held in Tashkent, Samarkand, and Termez from 7 to 11 July this year.

The Islamic Civilization Center launches new dialogue with the global museum community

The modernization of museums in line with the demands of the twenty-first century has become one of the key priorities on the international cultural agenda. In this regard, the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan seeks to refine its own concept by studying best practices in global museology. The international academic seminar held with the participation of Kathleen Göbel, Director of Germany’s Culture Cooperation organization, was a practical reflection of this objective. During the seminar, the international expert shared her experience while presenting the museum project in Saudi Arabia dedicated to the life of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

The First International Islamic Civilization Forum led to two major scholarly discoveries

Initiated by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the First International Islamic Civilization Forum, held under the theme “Islamic Civilization: The Path of Peace, Tolerance and Enlightenment” in Tashkent, Samarkand, and Termez, brought together nearly 300 government and public figures, ministers, muftis, prominent scholars, academics, researchers, museum and library directors, and representatives of international organizations from more than 40 countries. During the forum, two major scholarly discoveries that could reshape the understanding of Central Asia’s intellectual heritage were presented to the international community.
